🏠 Habitat & Care
- Tall, vertical terrarium: Green geckos are arboreal — they need height, not floor space. Minimum 45×45×60 cm (18×18×24 in) for one adult Day Gecko.
- Temperature gradient: Basking spot 32–35°C (90–95°F), ambient 24–28°C (75–82°F).
- UVB lighting MANDATORY: Day geckos are diurnal and need UVB (T5 5.0 or 6%). Without it, they develop metabolic bone disease.
- Humidity: 60–80%. Mist 2× daily — they drink water droplets from leaves, not bowls.
- Live plants: Bamboo, pothos, bromeliads — they need vertical climbing surfaces.
🍽️ Diet
Omnivorous. Staple: gut-loaded crickets, dubia roaches. Supplement: commercial day gecko diet (Pangea/Repashy) — fruit-based complete formula. Treats: mashed banana, mango, papaya. All insects must be dusted with calcium + D3. Feed juveniles daily, adults every other day.
🖐️ Handling Warning
Day geckos are display pets, NOT handling pets. Their skin tears easily — they can literally slough off patches of skin to escape a predator's grip. Handling causes extreme stress and can permanently damage their skin. Observe, don't touch. This is the single most important fact about keeping day geckos.
