📖 About the Pixie-bob

The Pixie-bob was developed in the Pacific Northwest in the 1980s by Carol Ann Brewer. For decades, rumor held they were actual bobcat hybrids. But DNA testing in 2013 and 2016 definitively proved they are 100% DOMESTIC — no bobcat DNA. They just happen to look remarkably like them. TICA recognized in 1993. Known for being polydactyl (extra toes — up to 7 per paw!) and naturally short/bobbed tails. Males reach 11 kg — among the largest domestic cats. They chirp and trill instead of meowing. Extraordinarily healthy with no breed-specific diseases — large, diverse gene pool. Extra toes require regular nail trimming.
