📖 About the Peterbald

The Peterbald was created in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1994 — crossing a Donskoy (Russian hairless with DOMINANT gene) with an Oriental Shorthair (for elegance). 5 coat types: Bald (completely hairless), Chamois/Flocks (90% bald, suede feel), Velour (70% bald with fine down), Brush (short wiry body hair), Straight (normal coat). Some change coat type with seasons or hormones. TICA recognized in 1997. HCM from Oriental ancestry — annual echo recommended. Skin requires Sphynx-like care: weekly bathing, sun protection.
