📖 About the Korat — Thailand's Good Luck Cat

The Korat (Si-Sawat in Thailand) is documented in the 700-year-old Tamra Maew alongside the Siamese — described as a silver-blue cat with "eyes like dewy lotus leaves" and "a coat the color of rain clouds." In Thai culture, they are NEVER sold — only given as gifts, traditionally to brides on their wedding day. First arrived in the US in 1959. CFA recognized in 1967. ONE color only: silver-tipped blue. GM1 & GM2 Gangliosidosis DNA tests MANDATORY for all breeding Korats — fatal recessive neurological diseases. One of the slowest-maturing breeds — don't reach full physical maturity until 5 years old.
