📖 About the Cymric
The Cymric (KIM-rick) is the longhaired variety of the Manx. Longhaired kittens appear naturally in Manx litters — the longhair gene is recessive and carried in the gene pool. Named from Cymru (Welsh for Wales) to sound Celtic. Same genetic risks as Manx: Manx Syndrome (spina bifida — fatal spinal deformity), homozygous lethal embryos (M/M die in utero), 4 tail types. Same dominant tailless gene with devastating potential effects. Ethical breeders NEVER breed two completely tailless cats together. Compare to Japanese Bobtail: completely different gene, recessive, NO spinal defects.
